Clinical Trails
Objectives: At the end of the lecture , the students should be able to: 1. Define and describe the purpose of clinical trials. 2. Explain the disadvantages of non-randomized clinical trials. 3. Outline the steps involved in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) 4. Discuss the advantages of ‘random allocation’ and ‘blinding’ to minimize confounding and bias in the estimation of treatment effects. 5. Describe the ‘placebo effect. 6. Describe suitable ‘outcome measures’ for clinical trials.
Definition:RCT
“Any form of planned experiment which involves patients and is designed to elucidate the most appropriate method of treatment of future patients with a given medical condition.

studies)
CCT are EXPERMENTAL (INTERVENTIONAL) studies.
Intervention include: not just drugs but also diagnostic ,
prophylactic and therapeutic agents or procedures also
devices and etc.
